Voigtlander Super Wide Heliar III Lens Review

This is a short review of the Voigtlander 15mm Super Wide Heliar III Lens that is suitable for full frame E-Mount Sony cameras (Lens supplied by Mainline Sydney).

This prime lens is ultra wide and very sharp. I do not find the f/4.5 maximum aperture or lack of autofocus a problem as I mainly shoot landscapes or architecture at f/8, f/11 or f/16 and the depth of field at these apertures is very forgiving of any focus errors.

It is a well built lens (heavier than it looks) but weighs in at under 250 grams. It has a fixed lens hood and 58mm filter thread (although it did not like the 10 stop ND filter i tried to attach to it so some research may be needed in this area for some users).

I am mainly drawn to this lens because of it small size and low weight and although I own the Sony FE 1635 F4 lens, I will be taking this lens travelling when the 7KG carry on bag demands that I choose the lenses with weight in mind.

Although the f/4.5 maximum aperture may not appeal to astro photographers (with the exception of A7S owners) it does present good value for money and packs a good such in the sharpness department.
