In this test I captured some ‘real world’ images (no white walls) using an A7R and A7S using the same lens (FE1635), exposed to the right and then processed using the same settings in Lightroom CC. Images were captured at twilight hand-held using appropriate shutter speeds. Noise reduction of +40 has been applied in Lightroom, which would be a conservative amount for images captured at ISO of 25,600. Images were then exported as 4K files to create the ‘level playing field’ between the two cameras. I don’t believe there is anything to be gained at pixel peeping into the un-processed Raw files. I am much more interested to see if the files captured at high ISO have commercial value after processing. Check out the 4K images in my Flickr gallery (link below movie).
