Get Down – Vantage Point

The act of capturing a scene can be likened to a dance where we try to manoeuvre into position so that the foreground, middle distance and distance create a pleasing photographic composition. Using the tilt screen on our Sony Alpha cameras can be invaluable to help put the camera into positions that would otherwise be difficult. In the image above the camera is almost touching the surface of the puddle that you see below. The puddle, by its very proximity to the camera lens, becomes a lake that now reflects the volcanic formations of Hanging Rock in Central Victoria.
